oahu

i’m lucky to have friends and family who are singers because it makes traveling so easy (read cheap). my friend sang in honolulu recently and i had the chance to go visit and stay with her while she was there. it was my first time to hawaii but it definitely will not be my last.

during the four days that i was there, we covered a lot of ground in oahu. i saw honolulu, makapuu, WHALES AND DOLPHINS, the north shore, waikiki, diamondhead and of course, my friend perform contessa in mozart’s the marriage of figaro. what i found most inspiring during this trip were the infinite shades of blue, green, turquoise and teal.

a highlight of that trip was seeing a mama whale and her baby swimming in the ocean with dolphins. we hiked the makapuu lighthouse trail (highly recommend) and when we reached the top, we saw the whales and dolphins swimming together. the photos aren’t the best quality because we were so far away but i was able to snap some!

another highlight was hiking diamondhead. there was an area that was theoretically off limits but we went anyways and took some beautiful photos overlooking the inside of an inactive volcano. although the trail was full of tourists, it shouldn’t hold you back if you ever find yourself in honolulu because the views are stunning.
